Description

The Gulf of Lim (the local population mostly calls it just Lim or the Lim Channel, in Italian Canale di Leme), a submerged karst valley on the west coast of Istria, between Rovinj and Poreč.

The length of the bay from the coastal edge of western Istria to the furthest part of the sea-filled valley is 12.8 km, and with the dry part of the Limska Draga below, the total length is about 35 km. At the very entrance, its width is 600 m, in the middle part about 400 m, and at the end about 200 m.

Since 1964, the geomorphological-hydrogeological locality has been protected by law in the category of significant landscapes; since 1980, a special reserve in the sea.

Therefore, mussels and oysters are grown in the inner part of the bay, and there is also the possibility of growing fish in cages. Its shores are covered with evergreen vegetation on the northern side, and deciduous on the southern side. Due to its natural uniqueness and gastronomic offer, it attracts many tourists (especially lovers of free climbing).

Explore this natural pearl and sail to the neighboring tourist towns of Vrsar or Rovinj.
