Description

Although not much is known about the life of the British pirate Henry Morgan, numerous mysterious stories and legends are associated with him, and the Istrian one is certainly the most interesting to us. This skilled but cruel sailor who lived in the 17th century is known for numerous raids and conquests. During them, by ravaging ships near the coasts of Cuba and Cartagena, as well as nearby villages, he collected a huge fortune. One legend says that while fleeing from the English fleet (although he initially fought on their side), he sailed into the Lim Channel with his sailing ship full of treasure, where he found a hiding place in the caves. He allegedly buried the pirate's treasure in the ruins of the ancient castle in Dvigrad, while he hid part of it in the Pirate's Cave located in the Lim Channel, which is why many adventurers still visit these two locations in the hope of finding treasure. The story becomes even more intriguing with the mention of the village Mrgani near Dvigrad and the Lim channel, which, according to some sources, was also called Morgani in the past, where the entire Morgan lineage lived.
