Donji Kamenjak and the Medulin archipelago are located in the extreme south of the Istrian peninsula, only ten kilometers from the city of Pula. It is a significant part of Istria, which attracts visitors from all over the world with its natural resources, throughout the year. Kamenjak is taken care of by the Public Institution for the Protection of Natural Values in the municipality of Medulin "Kamenjak". Donji Kamenjak has been a protected area since 1996, in the category of significant area. Donji Kamenjak is 3400 meters long and 500 to 1600 meters wide. On an area slightly smaller than 400 ha, there are numerous plant and animal species, and the coastal part consists of more than 30 picturesque bays lapped by the crystal clear and clean Adriatic Sea. To make the experience of a perfect place for rest of soul and body complete, there are also 11 uninhabited islets, together with the islet of Porera, on which there is a lighthouse.
